Utah state law allows Children First Education Fund to award a full-year scholarship award to qualified applicants up to the following amounts based upon the weighted pupil unit (WPU) as defined by the state as the amount established each year in the enacted public education budget. Based upon the Utah State code provision, the 2026-27 scholarship awards will be as follows:
| Program Type | Award Amount | WPU |
|---|---|---|
| Homeschool Grades K–12 | $8,000.00 | 1.6 times the WPU |
| Private School PreK (Part-Time) | $2,600.00 | 0.55 times the WPU |
| Private School PreK (Full-Time) | $4,800.00 | 1.0 times the WPU |
| Private School Grades K–12 | $12,175.00 | 2.5 times the WPU |
Sibling Scholarships
The sibling scholarship previously available for siblings without a disability is no longer available. The 2026 legislature removed this option from the CSOS statute. Siblings without a disability are encouraged to apply for the Utah Fits All scholarship program. Siblings who both have a qualified disability may each apply for and receive the Carson Smith Opportunity Scholarship, but they must apply separately.
